Australian Nick Kyrgios, a finalist on the grass at Wimbledon last year, has withdrawn from the Mallorca tournament which begins on Sunday, organizers announced on Saturday.
“Nick Kyrgios has removed his name from the list of participants in the Mallorca tournament due to injury,” the organizers said on their Twitter account.
“The Australian who trained on the courts of Mallorca for several days, is not able to play the competition,” they added, without giving further details.
Kyrgios had already withdrawn from the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, which ends on Sunday. He has only played one game on grass this season in Stuttgart for his first tournament on the ATP Tour since October 2022.
He was then clearly inclined against the Chinese Wu Yibing 7-5, 6-3.
The Australian, now 31st in the world, has been disturbed for several months by a left knee injury which he underwent surgery in January and which deprived him of the first six months of competition.
