The young Frenchman Luca van Assche, 77th player in the world, lost Friday against the German Alexander Zverev (N.19), beaten in two sets 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 tournament on clay beaten in Hamburg.

Van Assche, 19, had a tricky start, quickly trailing 3-0 after dropping his face-off. Despite a start, he never managed to reverse the trend and it was logically Zverev who served for pocket the first set (6-3).

The native of Woluwe (Belgium), left to equalize after leading four games to one, including a confirmed break, then experienced a real air pocket. Unable to react, he let the former world No.2 catch up and line up five consecutive games to win in an hour and a half.
