China’s Wang Xiyu won her first title on the WTA circuit on Saturday by sweeping Poland’s Magda Linette 6-0, 6-2 in the final of the tournament in Canton, China.

While playing her very first final on the circuit, the 22-year-old player, 88th in the world, largely dominated Linette (27th), seeded N.1, in 1h20.

Eliminated in the semi-final of the Australian Open at the start of the year, the 31-year-old Pole reached her first final of 2023 in China.

Before Magda Linette, Wang Xiyu had already dismissed several players ranked higher than her, including the Belgian Greet Minnen (57th) in the half.
