Failing to shine in the biggest tournaments on the planet, French tennis can congratulate itself on having an important breeding ground. While the 2023 season is still far from over, the French have won 24 titles on the Challenger circuit (second professional division) this season. Never before has a nation gleaned so many trophies in a single year. Constant Lestienne thus won his third title this season in this category, at the Challenger 100 in Alicante in Spain. Seed number 1 in the tournament, Lestienne dominated his compatriot Hugo Grenier in the final after a very close match (nearly three hours of play, (6/7, 6/2, 6/4). And for the anecdote : the French Touch Academy player had already won the title in Alicante, in 2021, and he beat in the final… Hugo Grenier. This is the 9th career title on the Challenger circuit for Constant Lestienne.
