Le Figaro headlined “Montpellier, a champion of France (almost) by the wayside”. Well the Hérault club rushed into it this weekend after the home defeat against the Brive red lantern (26-27) while the Corréziens were reduced to 14 for nearly 60 minutes. The MHR therefore has nothing more to play for at the end of the season.
But this defeat left its mark. According to information from Midi Libre, an argument broke out between two players and the manager. In the locker room, Philippe Saint-André would have made the players face up to their responsibilities. French international Mohamed Haouas and his compatriot Paul Willemse then took the floor to indicate that the staff also had their share of responsibility in this rout.
The verbal exchange would have been “muscular” always according to Midi Libre. But this matter should not stop there. If a layoff has been mentioned, Mohed Altrad, the Montpellier president, should receive the two players in his office this week and set, perhaps, sanctions.
