Almost a month after his world title, Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is preparing to play his first minutes in the Racing 92 jersey, his coach Stuart Lancaster announced at a press conference on Friday.
“He’s been training all week and he’s available to be in the team,” said Lancaster adding that his 32-year-old flanker had turned the page on celebrating the World Cup and was totally focused on the Racing 92.
Present in the stands of the Jean-Bouin stadium during the Ile-de-France derby last week against Stade Français, Siya Kolisi stood out, taking up the chants of the supporters to encourage his team alongside Reece James, captain of the English football club Chelsea.
For his first in the sky and white jersey, “I will simply ask him to concentrate on the basics. “It’s a new system in defense and offense” that he still has to assimilate, Lancaster explained.
“It’s a very important match for him, he’s been very focused this week and he can’t wait to play,” added the England manager.
