The Stade Français, thanks to its victory (28-18) at the very end of the match on Friday evening in Jean-Bouin against the promoted Oyonnax, temporarily took the lead in the Top 14, during the opening match of the 2nd day.
The only away winner last weekend, in Perpignan (29-7) the Parisian club continued its momentum at home, to the detriment of the “Oyomen”, who had made a strong impression in Clermont (36-17) during of the first day.
The Ain club was not unworthy in the capital, on the contrary, since it stood up to the test in the 75th minute against the Pink Soldiers, who did not master their rugby, contenting themselves with leave it to their fly half Zack Henry to score.
Authors of a good performance, they even scored two tries, in the 40th minute by their third line from New Zealand Rory Grice, then in the 57th by their center Théo Millet.
Their striker Jules Soulan, who had already scored 21 points last weekend, even allowed his team to take the lead at half-time (13-9) thanks to two penalties and a transformation in the first period.
But the Stade Français ended the match better, like the magnificent drop of the opener replacing Joris Segonds at the last second.
Oyonnax will have to confirm its good start to the season on the next day by hosting Stade Toulousain, while the Parisian club will host Montpellier.
