An incident that could have turned into a tragedy disrupted the tenth stage of the Tour of Italy won this Tuesday by Frenchman Valentin Paret-Peintre. A dog, visibly old but not being held by its master, had the bad idea of bursting onto the road as the runners arrived.

The poor animal, frightened, seemed lost in the middle of the road before painfully returning to the sidewalk, fortunately avoided by all the runners who could have hit it at full speed. More fear than harm, therefore, with this incident which is unfortunately not an isolated case during cycling competitions which attract many spectators to the side of the roads.
