The Colombian Juan Sebastian Molano (UAE) won the 12th stage of the Tour of Spain in a sprint on Thursday in Zaragoza, where the American Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) retained his red jersey.
It is the 23rd victory, the second in the Vuelta, for Molano, who won at the last stage last year in Madrid.
At the end of a quiet day, on the eve of two mountain stages, the 28-year-old Colombian settled the peloton’s massive sprint by beating the Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin), wearer of the green jersey, and the Dutchman Boy van Poppel (Intermarket).
There is no change in the general classification: Sepp Kuss remains in the lead ahead of the Spaniard Marc Soler and the Belgian Remco Evenepoel, winner last year.
Slovenian Primoz Roglic, who shaved off four seconds in an intermediate sprint, is fourth ahead of Frenchman Lenny Martinez, fifth.
