Bad weather disrupted the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre last Sunday. If the giant multihulls of the Ultim class were able to take the path of the English Channel before falling into the Atlantic while beating the storm Ciaran, the Ocean Fifty and the boats of the Class 40 were forced to find refuge in the port of Lorient forty -eight hours after leaving Le Havre last Sunday.
The Imoca, the Vendée Globe monohulls, remained in Normandy because no Breton port was able to accommodate the forty crews.
This wait will soon be nothing more than a bad memory. The Ocean Fifty and the Class 40 will be able to set off at 10:30 a.m. Monday for the first and a quarter of an hour later for the others. The IMOCAs will finally set sail on Tuesday from Le Havre, the race organization announced late Saturday morning.
