Big tension during the qualifications of the US Open which started at the beginning of the week in New York. Viktor Troicki, ex-12th player in the world and retired since 2021, was in the stands to follow the meeting of Hamad Mededovic, of which he became the coach, but an incident disrupted the match and pitted him against a spectator very virulent.
For some unknown reason, an American individual vehemently took the Serb to task, visibly reproaching him for his behavior as his colt approached the third and final set of his duel against Borna Gojo.
Exasperated, the man multiplied the rudeness while Troicki had risen to answer him, seeming ready to calm things down. “It’s New York, it’s not your p… from Serbia!” the man is pissed off before insulting him. The security service had to intervene when the spectators, annoyed, also tried to make their compatriot understand that he should calm down.
The evening ultimately ended badly as Viktor Troicki’s protege lost in three sets (7-5, 6-7, 6-4) on court n°5.
