The French volleyball players won their second victory in a row in the League of Nations, against Canada, 3 to 0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-21), Saturday in Orleans.
With their success the day before against Cuba (3-0), the Blue Olympic champions have a record of three wins and four losses which leave them in the race for qualification for the final phase in Poland (July 19-23).
But they do not hide, although being tempted by the title, that their real objective is the Euro at the end of August-beginning of September.
With most of their holders, but not their star Earvin Ngapeth who has been spared since the start of this VNL, Andrea Gianni’s men have largely dominated the Canadians thanks in particular to the attacks of Trévor Clévenot (16 points) and Jean Patry ( 11), also effective in the service (3 aces).
The last match of the Orleans stage will pit the French against Brazil on Sunday, after which they will fly to California to play their last four meetings of the qualifying phase in Anaheim, in the Los Angeles area.
