Confirmation. Like the day before, Dutch Marianne Vos won the fourth stage of the Women’s Tour of Spain in a sprint on Thursday in Guadalajara, consolidating her leading position before the mountain stages.

In a slightly hilly and 133.1 kilometer long stage, several breakaways did not manage to go to the end and it was in the sprint that the 35-year-old rider (Jumbo-Visma) offered herself this new success by beating on the line the Danish Emma Norsgaard (Movistar) and the Swiss Marlen Reusser (SDW).

The Dutchwoman now has a 13-second lead overall over American Chloe Dygert (CSR) and 14 over fellow Batavian and team-mate at Jumbo-Visma, Riejanne Markus.

But everything remains to be done in this seven-stage Vuelta, which will take a mountainous turn for its second part. Wednesday, the main climb of the day, the Col de Horche (third category), especially allowed the favorites to gauge themselves before the serious things.

On Friday, the fifth stage, 129.5 km long between La Cabrera and Riaza, north of Madrid, will offer riders a first category pass, the Puerto de Navafria.
