Australian star captain Sam Kerr has withdrawn from Australia’s first two World Cup matches with a calf injury, including Thursday’s opener against Ireland, the FA said.
The medical staff of the selection will reassess the state of health of the Chelsea striker “after our second group match” against Nigeria on July 27, said the federation one hour before the start of its World Cup at home in Sydney.
