Hervé Renard, coach of the France team, after the victory against Morocco (4-0) and qualification for the quarter-finals of the World Cup, at the microphone of M6:

“The objective is fulfilled. We always want a little more but that’s good. Now, we have to plan for this quarter-final against the host country (Australia). We equaled the performance of four years ago. We know what we came here for, the priority objective is to do better than what the French team did in 2011 (a semi-final lost against the United States), so we know what we still have to do. We have the capabilities to do it. Afterwards, we know it in advance, it will be a match that will not be easy (against Australia), but not easy for both teams.

Eugénie Le Sommer, striker for the France team: “That’s what we came for. We qualified, that’s the most important thing. We didn’t want to take this team lightly because we knew they had a good group stage. They still eliminated Germany so they have quality in their team, they had to be taken seriously from the start of the match. It made it easier for us to score fairly quickly and it got us off to a good start. It’s always nice to score. The team is doing well. We arrive with confidence and it is also important for the future. We are ready for this quarter-final.
