The Americans, with the new queen of the 100m Sha’Carri Richardson as the last runner, were crowned world champions in the 4x100m ahead of the Jamaicans and the British on Saturday in Budapest.

The American quartet won in 41 sec 03, a championship record, ahead of Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson (41.21), and Great Britain (41.97). Richardson, who was experiencing his first major championships at 23, finished them with two gold medals, in the 100m and 4x100m, and a bronze, in the 200m, one year before the Olympics-2024.
