Jamaican Shericka Jackson, 2022 world vice-champion, and Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou tied for the fastest time in the 100m semi-finals at the World Athletics Championships on Monday in Budapest.
Jackson, holder of the best world performance of the season in 10”65, and Ta Lou were credited with the same time to the nearest thousandth, 10”79 (wind: -0.4 m/s), in the second of the three semi-finals, the toughest. The American Sha’Carri Richardson, author of a sluggish start, also got out of it by taking one of the two qualifying places on time, third in 10” 84.
Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, five-time world champion in the 100m, also qualified by dominating the first semi-final, in 10” 89 (wind: -0.4 m/s). The final is scheduled for 9:50 p.m.
