LONDON – Jeremy Corbyn, leader outgoing of the labour party, would have appointed a conservative, John Bercow, ex-speaker or ex-chairperson of the house of commons, a seat in the house of Lords. This was revealed this morning, the Sunday Times, citing sources of the Labour, even if the party does not confirm or deny. Corbyn would have decided to appoint Bercow because it seems that Boris Johnson will not do, although the ex-speaker to belong to the same party. The reason is that Bercow, despite having become a deputy in the ranks of the conservatives, has gradually shifted to positions closer to the opposition labor party, in particular on the issue of Brexit, which is strongly opposed to the premier conservative Theresa May is to his successor, Johnson, contributing multiple times to frustarne initiatives in parliament.

For this reason, it is said, even if he has not said anything officially about it, that Boris Johnson will not do them the honor of making him Lord. And for this Corbyn would have decided to intervene, causing it to him. Apart from a small group of about ninety lords hereditary, which will pass still the seat of the father in the son, the vast majority of the approximately 700 members of the upper chamber of the british parliament are appointed for life, for the merits of the institutional, academic or otherwise. The appointment is formally to the Queen, but on the advice of the prime minister to turn: therefore, in practice, it is now Johnson to have the opportunity to appoint a number of new lords.

But to allow that all parties are represented in the upper house, it wants the practice that even the leaders of the other major parties, the labor and the liberal-democrat, have the opportunity to appoint some lord, or better candidarli, submitting the name to the prime minister that, as a rule, have to accept them. Always the practice, of the rest, would like the ex-speaker of the house of commons are almost automatically appointed lords: practice the more strong in the face of one such as Bercow, who has occupied the position for ten years. It remains to be seen if Boris Johnson in this case will comply with the practice. However, it would be extraordinary if she ignored both the tradition of appointing an ex-Speaker, is to respect the “application” advanced by the leader of the opposition. The possibility that, in one way or another Bercow to become a member of the house of Lords is so high, even without being an absolute certainty. But in that scope will not say the typical “order, order”, the phrase that, thanks to social media has made it popular in the midst of the world.
