the ROME – The United Nations general Assembly has approved a resolution condemning the human rights violations perpetrated by Burma against the muslim minority of Rohingya, including arbitrary arrests, torture, rape and deaths in detention, and calls on the government of that Country to fight against any form of incitement to hatred against all minorities.
The document was approved at the Palace of Glass in New York with 134 yes on 193 Countries represented, as compared with 9 no, and 28 abstentions.
The burmese government had already been put in the crosshairs from a harsh United Nations report last year. Under also accuses the Nobel prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi : “did nothing to stop the genocide”. The leader has defended the army in front of the international Court of justice Un: “we can Not exclude that the military have used force disproportionate. But genocide is not the only hypothesis”.
