The beautiful Khadija Ben Hamou won the fifth of January a fun ‘Miss Algeria’. She thus became the second black woman in history, who has been named as ‘Miss Algeria’. Back in 2005, it was Nassima Mokadem, who won the distinguished title.

Khadija’s victory in the north african country of Algeria has, however, been followed by a flood of racist comments on social media, where her dark skin, her nose and her lips have been criticized. Many have also believed that she looks like a man. Critics believe that Khadija is too dark, and that she is not a good representative of the beauty of Algeria. But Khadija has also received lots of support from all over the world of people who take the deep distance from the racist treatment of skønhedsdronningen.
