– Let us introduce a stop for cruise ships. The city (i.e. Copenhagen, red.) have no use for the tourists, which makes pit-stop in town to buy expensive bags on the main street and take the obligatory picture of The Little Mermaid, writing Franciska Rosenkilde in debatindlægget.

It is among other things, respect for the environment and climate as well as the fear of overturisme, as we know it from Venice and Barcelona, who gets Franciska Rosenkilde to take up the fight against the reviled cruise ships, she explains:

– It is a political responsibility, which the tourist town of Copenhagen will be. Copenhagen have to offer at the German christmas markets and partybuses, or whether, instead, gives priority to perceptual nature, city walks and bike tours, as well as a diverse music and theatre scene.

the cruise industry is often criticised for being the cause of massive environmental and air pollution, as well as for questionable working conditions. The critical voices have not been fewer during the coronakrisen, where a large number of ships have been quarantined with seriously sick passengers.

this year, 348 cruise lines have put more than one million tourists in the country in Copenhagen.

According to the CruiseCopenhagen, that is based in Wonderful Copenhagen, representing the cruise industry in Denmark is a direct turnover of 1.25 billion crowns, just like the keep 2400 full-time employees in employment.
