More than a billion Wi-Fi devices in the world – think smartphone, tablet, router and e-book reader – could be exposed to a serious security risk. Eset, a company specializing in cybersecurity yesterday revealed to have discovered a flaw in the several lines of chip the Wi-Fi of the giants Cypress Semiconductor and Broadcom. The issue is quite alarming because the two companies are among the major hardware vendors of the most well-known manufacturers of consumer electronics. Not surprisingly, these critical issues have been detected on terminals iPhone 6, 6S, 8 and XR; Google Nexus 5, 6, and 6P; Samsung Galaxy S8; Xiaomi Redmi 3S; tablets iPad Air and Mini 2; Apple MacBook Air Retina 13 (2018); Kindle; Amazon Echo; routers Asus RT-N12, B612S-25d, EchoLife HG8245H, Huawei E5577Cs-321 and other products.
