The european Union is the most advanced area compared to the 17 sustainable development Goals of Agenda 2030 of the Un, but there is still a long way to go. Some delays are likely, in fact, to fail the plan of action upon which you are engaged all the Countries of the world in 2015. A study by The European Union and the Sustainable Development Goals presented today at the Farnesina by the Alliance the Italian for Sustainable Development (ASviS), for the first time to measure the situation of each Eu Country in relation to the Objectives of sustainable development.

composite indicators developed by the ASviS in fact reveal that between 2010 and 2017, the situation improves for nine Objectives (health, education, gender equality, energy, employment, city, production and consumption, climate change and the marine ecosystem), gets worse and worse for two (terrestrial ecosystems and international cooperation), while for five (poverty, hunger, infrastructure, inequality, peace and justice), the situation remains unchanged (for the Goal 6, water and sanitation, it was not possible to create a composite indicator for lack of data). Restricting the analysis to the short-term, between 2016 and 2017 include improvements in two-thirds of the cases, i.e. for the Objectives 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 14 and 16, stability to Objectives 7, 9, 12, 13, and 17, while in the case of the Lens 15 is manifested in a worsening.

And the environment, one on which Italy seems to not be able to do as I moved forward. The two Lenses (15 and 17) that we see worse performance, in fact, are those established to “protect, restore and promote sustainable use of the earth’s ecosystem, to manage sustainably the forests, combat desertification, and halt and push back the deterioration of the soil, and halt the loss of biological diversity” in addition to “strengthen the means of implementation and renew the global partnership for sustainable development”.

“The average results of the european – underlines the president of the ASviS Pierluigi Stefanini – hide, for the most part Objectives, situations, very different between member States. New european policies must seek to reduce these differences, which undermine the confidence in the Europe of the citizens that live in the Countries at the bottom of the ranking of well-being”.

“the choice of The new european Commission to put the Agenda 2030 at the centre of all policies,” said the spokesman of the ASviS Enrico Giovannini – it is very important and will have significant impact on the way in which Italy must draw and carry out its policies. Not surprisingly, recent reports on the Green New Deal, on the organization of the european Semester and the Stability Pact are built around the Agenda 2030 and open up new scenarios. Our Country must decide if to support these innovations, or have a conservative approach. Are not changes painless, but Italy has everything to gain from policies and european funds oriented towards economic sustainability,
environmental and social”.
