Inside the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan, where the virus originated: We, the quarantined cities

WUHAN – This is where it all started. Inside this anonymous building, a long warehouse you wouldn’t even notice were it not cordoned off and guarded by men in black. “Huanan Seafood Market, Wuhan”, says a banner. And yet, as everyone knows, much more was sold in these stalls: animals with two, four or a thousand legs, both wild or domestic, legal or contraband species. Even badgers and civets, host species that previously transmitted Sars to humans and that, who knows, may have carried the new coronavirus.
