the Article ”A star surgeon left a trail of Dead patients – and his whistleblowers were punished” was published in the fall in the Leapsmag, a onlinemagasin with a focus on science and society. The long story is an account of what happened from the surgeon Paolo Macchiarini recruited to Karolinska institutet and the Karolinska university hospital, KS, in the year 2010 until today. The article culminates in a scathing criticism of KI’s management, with the vice-chancellor Anders Hamsten at the tip, and the unwillingness to listen to the four doctors who alerted on Macchiarinis research misconduct.
” It was shocking to realize that they are actually punished visselblåsarna who tried to change the wrong to become right. They have had to pay a very high price for that they endeavoured to save future patients who otherwise had to suffer Macchiarinis experiment, ” says Eve Herold to DN.
