Showbiz Party to the Medialaan, because JOE is today ten years. That celebrates the radio station with a broadcast of 24 hours and a foot on the ground in the Netherlands. The transmitter for the ‘fresh’ forty-something, is a success story and that is partly due to Raf Van Brussel (48) and Tess Goossens (37). They were there from day one. “It was love at first sight.”
On april 1, 2009, Fortis had to reluctantly admit that it’s the year before for a record amount of 28 billion euro loss had created and played the Red Devils under René Vandereycken against Bosnia as a qualifier of all-or-nothing (it was nothing). But on april 1, 2009 was also the rather grey oldieszender 4fm a new life thanks to Medialaan. JOE fm in 2016, renamed JOE – saw the light of day. Tess Goossens Raf Van Brussel, two pioneers of the first hour, reminisce. And there are quite a few. “The visit of Johnny Logan I will never forget,” says Tess. “My colleagues have a hate his ‘Hold Me Now’, but it really is one of my lievelingsnummers. During the live version in the studio, he looked the whole time right in my eyes. He processed, when even my name in the song and afterwards he gave me a heartfelt hug. And when I came the next day to work, there was a huge bunch of flowers waiting for me. To the bouquet with dozens of red roses was a card with a kiss from Logan. That at home I still have to explain. (laughs)”
Liefdesproblemen
Tess, that now every afternoon ‘The number 1 show’ presents, made by JOE, her radiodebuut, after years of tv work for VTM. “I remember especially that I have a very exciting thought. I’m presenting the program ‘Heartbeats’, which we liefdesproblemen of the listeners discussed. Very nice. In direct contact with your audience, that I was not used to on television. It was love at first sight with the radio.”
