The new bottles of Coca-Cola are already in production. They are two inches smaller and two millimetres thinner. But most of all they take only 450 milliliters, instead of the usual 500 milliliters. The price remains the same – this is equivalent to a price increase of 11.11 per cent. From the middle of April they should be expelled.

Now Selecta has responded as the first large distributor to the hidden price increase. Today is Tuesday, the operator of the machine is informed, in the future, less Coca-Cola and Pepsi Max as an Alternative to offer. Products such as Fanta, Sprite or Mezzo Mix, which are also produced by Coca-Cola and in the future in smaller bottles to be delivered, to fly completely out of the range. Selecta will be replaced by products of Sinalco and 7-Up.

parallel imports

Thomas Nussbaumer, Managing Director of Selecta in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, says in the message to the decision: “The actions of Coca-Cola we can not accept: It is to both the customers as well as to the sales partners unfair.” Selecta has put out to tender the whole of the cold beverage range. Coca-Cola in the future from foreign countries, and therefore the conventional bottles, more to offer, is for Selecta apparently not an Option: “When possible, we have chosen a Swiss or in Switzerland, bottled products,” says Nussbaumer.

Coca-Cola does not want to comment on the decision and says on request only: “Any merchant is free, how he designed his range.” With the reduction in the size of the bottles of Coca-Cola carries out an optimization of the costs. So it has been communicated internally, such as Tagesanzeiger.ch/Newsnet in January reported. Against the outside of Coca-Cola, however, says the customers would like smaller packaging.

1-Liter bottle disappears

Not only the 500-ml PET bottle will be adjusted, but also the 1-Liter bottle. This is no longer produced in Switzerland and through a 750-ml bottle replaced. What price is still unclear, the price per Milliliter is but bottle also since it will be higher in comparison to the 1-Liter. (Tages-Anzeiger)
