– of Course I have – like everyone else – a political position. But I did not take to the festival as a representative of any political movement. Only to hear music and hang out with friends.
– I had booked the ticket in advance, and people know who I am, and that I have been part of the blackmetal scene in the last 25 years. When I ordered the ticket in my own name, there does not seem to have been no problem, says Möbus, with reference to the festival’s subsequent comment on Facebook:
‘No intolerance on the Mayhem.
We are terribly bored of the weekend’s event. Violence and other callous behavior on the Mayhem is complete unacceptable. We let the product come into line with our ideas to close all into, regardless of gender, race, sexuality and political persuasion. But we must simply accept that there can only be space for them, providing space for all. That it was at all possible to allow a person with such a violent history to reserve a ticket is a big mistake.
We paid a high price and we have learned an important lesson. We have been naïve idealists, and have acted in faith against the positions, until now we have been running Mayhem after: that art trumps everything else. In the future he will, and people of his nature, not be allowed access. Nazis and other intolerant extremists is of course not welcome in the Mayhem.’
Copenhagen Police press office has the following comment:
– We can confirm that we at 23.46 Saturday will receive a notification that something is happening. As we arrive to the spot, however, is that come ro. We learn at the site that 10-15 people have behaved violently and used tear gas and pepper spray. However, there was no one on site who wanted to make the review, sounds it from the police.
