Just a few weeks after the official handover of the new gun, the Sig Sauer P320 X-Carry, it ended up in a legal whirlwind.

The 27. February was the first copies handed to the guard and commands, who will use it. The new gun replaces the M/49 Neuhausen, who since 1949 – that is, in 70 years – has been the Defence gun.

According to Ekstra information is the pistolproducenten Glock, who has complained over the course of the supply, which led to the purchase of the Sig Sauer.

the Glock is said to have complained that a particular spring in the Sauer’s can be turned both ways – and no matter how it turns, can the gun be fired.

however, It is not in line with the tender documents, where it says that the gun only could be assembled in one way.

Glock took part in the tender with their Glock 17 Gen 5-gun, however, was not selected.

‘Sig Sauer performed clearly best in the test, and was the gun, which the users of the services and the command preferred, according to the head of Defence Equipment and Indkøbsstyrelses landmilitære division, colonel Christian Ishøj, in a written comment to Extra Blade.

Without confirming the details acknowledge the IMF, that there is a legal storm on the purchased gun. It follows that the complaints Board for public Procurement in an order that is not yet available to the public, the 15. march gave the complainant the right to the so-called principle of equal treatment is complied with.

Immediately believe the colonel, however, that the decision will have consequences for the Danish soldiers who are about to take the Sauer in use.

’the decision is taken ad notam and the derived opportunities and consequences will in the future be analysed carefully. There exists a variety of options, and it is my clear expectation that the warrant will not result in immediate consequences or significant changes for users,’ writes Christian Ishøj in a written comment.

’the Order is based on the legal detail of the linguistic character, and fundamentally, we have conducted a thorough and professional offer, which has given the right wins. Unfortunately, one of our formulations about one of the requirements have not been precise enough.’

the Extra Leaf is working to get a comment to the complaint from Glock.
