south Korea and the UNITED states have decided to stop two of their largest joint military exercises this spring.

this was stated by The Pentagon, according to Bloomberg News the night of Sunday, Danish time.

this Decision reflects our desire to reduce tensions (north Korea, red.) and in order to support our diplomatic effort to achieve a complete denuclearisation of The Korean Peninsula, writes the US department of defence in a statement.

South korea’s defence minister, Jeong Kyeong-doo, confirming the decision which he has taken along with Patrick Shanahan, who is the USA’s acting secretary of defense.

north Korea has not yet commented on the joint resolution.

the Announcement comes after a meeting between the president of the UNITED states, Donald Trump, and North korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong-un, on Thursday ended without an agreement on latter’s nuclear programme.

At a subsequent press conference featured Trump the large amounts of money the UNITED states can use the exercises with south Korea.

I said to the generals, yes, it is fun to keep the exercise and it is nice and they play war games. And I’m not saying that it is not necessary, for it is in a way but in other ways it’s not. And it is very, very expensive, the president said.

The canceled military exercises known as Foal Eagle and Key Resolve.

In recent years, up to to 200,000 south Korean soldiers and 30,000 american soldiers participated in the exercises. The UNITED states has roughly 28.500 troops in south Korea.

on Friday said anonymous sources in the u.s. military, that the exercises would be set.

Last year, suspended the Trump exercises. It happened with regard to the enormous costs and to reduce tensions between the UNITED states and north Korea.

The common display of military clout and the large number of participating soldiers from the UNITED states and south Korea is north Korea has been seen as highly provocative.

the Regime in Pyongyang has described them as a test sample of an invasion and responded by holding his own and costly military exercises.
