You don’t need to travel thousands of kilometers to get a fantastic summer holiday with the family. Not at all, if the weather in Denmark species as last year, where solskinstimerne was the most in 71 years.

Lønstrup is located approximately 60 kilometers northwest of Aalborg, and in addition to having plenty to offer in itself, the city is also a great starting point for day trips and tours around northern jutland.

A good bid on the first excursion is a visit to the old lighthouse the rubjerg Knude.

The fresh can walk along the coast from Lønstrup and with own eyes see how the sea eats them closer and closer to the houses. But save a little energy to go and explore the huge sand dunes by the lighthouse – there is a guarantee of fun and sweat on the forehead.

In Tornby dune plantation, just north of Lønstrup there are also good opportunities to get activated the body and unwind, when you have laced vandreskoene or has jumped on a mountain bike.

There are marked routes for both.

Consider also a trip to the Liver Y’s expired at Kærsgård Beach.

That is beautiful and peaceful, and if you have luck and patience, it is also a great place to go on the hunt for a piece of amber.

In the fall gather the starlings and forms a small black sun.

Mårup Church is a must – though the church actually does not exist anymore. It was removed in 2015 in order to avoid that the church should plunge down the 70-metre high cliff as a consequence of the kystnedbrydningen.

fortunately, There is still plenty of history, and old gravestones to explore the midst.

of course One must also use a day to go to Skagen and go out on Grenen – Denmark’s most northern point, where Skagerrak and Kattegat meet. Along the coast of Lønstrup is the old bunkers from the Second world War as a string of pearls. Today crawling children around and playing on them, and anglers use them as platforms.

Even more historic history to be found in the bunker museum in Hirtshals. Here is the Tenth Battery, which is Denmark’s only complete excavated German fortifications from the war-time.

Go in the German’s footsteps in the 3.5 kilometres of trenches, connecting 69 bunkers, or look into heaps and see how the soldiers lived.

Four places you should eat

Lønstrup has a good selection of different dining options, whether you are a gourmet, traditional cafés, or a quick pizza.

have breakfast at one of the local potters, which serves freshly baked bread and accessories in the adjoining premises – of course served on its own design.

Møllehusets brunch and afternoon tea must be booked in advance, but you can always take a quick visit to the old mill for a very well-brewed cup of coffee and the most amazing, big pieces of homemade cake. The coffee is served in homemade keramikkopper.

the Restaurant has new owners in 2018, and invites both lunch and dinner. Glashuset serves, among other things, a delicious treretters menu with the accompanying wine ad libitum at reasonable prices.

the Restaurant in the old seaside resort that requires a slightly deeper grip in the wallet, but then there is also the guarantee for a dining experience of the major.

With local produce and gastronomy in action will be the dinner served in the cosy restaurant, where all tables have a view of the north sea’s roar.

Family tours

It is no secret that the climate on the North sea coast can be raw. If the weather is not to long days on the beach, or visiting the Indians in skuldersæsonen, there are fortunately good family activities close.

is located in Hirtshals and is Northern europe’s largest aquarium. Here you can spend hours beneath the surface and meeting the curious sunfish, playful seals and a lot of other sea creatures.

can entertain children and the young at heart, from morning to evening. The brave can take a ride in the Whirlwind or the Hurricane, vandhundene can spend some hours in the water park, and the smallest can have fun running their own small electric car, or dig for precious gold.

located just five km from Lønstrup and is the perfect escape on a rainy day. Here are plenty of activities for all ages, so whether you are into squash courts, wellness, playground or water park, is Skallerup worth a visit.

Take on the loppejagt

Have you jumped on the genbrugsbølgen, Lønstrup and the surrounding area a mecca for loppejægere.

There are several large halls filled with loppeguld and antique treasures – visit, for example, Jensen Antique in Sønder Rubbertech, or take a drive to the Lykkegaarden in Tversted, which is known from the Skattejægerne on DR1.

And remember, that the price of the degree is up for debate in north Jutland.
