In the security Council of the United Nations, were rejected two competing resolutions on the Venezuela crisis. A of the United States submitted a draft failed on Thursday at the Veto of Russia and China. The Russian draft resolution was rejected by a clear majority.
The US-sponsored Resolution called for “free, fair and credible” elections in the South American country. In addition, the “deep concern” about the Venezuelan security forces against “unarmed peaceful protesters” used violence expressed therein.
Nine countries were in favour of the Initiative, including Germany, France and the United Kingdom. The veto powers Russia and China, which are among the most important allies of the Venezuelan heads of state, Nicolas Maduro, stopped the project.
Russia has received for its draft resolution, meanwhile, is just the support of China, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea. The Text dismissed the threats of a military intervention in Venezuela.
