The indian combat pilot Abhi Nandan has put the face on the escalating crisis in Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
A spokesman for the pakistani military, major general Asif Ghafoor, has confirmed the capture.
‘Wing Comander Abhi Nandan will be dealt with in accordance with military ethics’, he writes on Twitter, where he also publishes a photo of the pilot.

India and Pakistan control part of Kashmir. Both countries do, however, claim the area and have fought two wars over the issue.
India blames Pakistan for supporting militants in the disputed region. Pakistan rejects the accusation, but refers to the militant groups in Kashmir as freedom fighters.
In 2003 the two countries as a cease-fire. It, however, fell to the ground some years later, when a new indian government was elected, among other things, on a harder line against Pakistan.
the UNITED states secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, has called on the two countries to exercise restraint.
