Cyclocross Show Aerts won the Soudal Cyclocross in Leuven, the second-to-last cyclocross of the season. The Belgian champion beat Tom Meeusen in the sprint. The people were under the sun for their money, because by the absence of Mathieu van der Poel was a fascinating spectacle.

No Mathieu van der Poel, so could Leuven under a radiant sun format for an open and exciting race. Tim Merlier took the holeshot, but it was Michael Vanthourenhout, and after ten minutes cross and a first bomblet individual. In the background struck a dozen riders together, but they pitsten in the first instance, not count of the lead of eight seconds. Until Show Aerts after a good start with things went moeien. The Belgian champion came halfway cross connect and took Laurens Sweeck and Lars van der haar. Four leaders so Leuven was indeed a fascinating spectacle.

Vanthourenhout was clearly the best on the technical numbers, whereas the Belgian champion is like uitleefde on the asfaltstroken. After a slip was Sweeck the first that seemed to be hooks, but on character and skill, he closed it again. Also Aerts solved even after he is out of klikpedaal lap, but put the miss right. Tom Meeusen and Jim Aernouts saw the leaders, in the meantime, for himself out, and made what getreuzel at the front three laps from the finish the connection.

However, we went with z’n sixes in the final. At the time that Aerts on the pedals, stood up, kicked Sweeck, after all, his chain in half. A serious downer in a season that the 25-year-old crosser like will quickly want to forget. Then considered Meeusen at the start of the last lap his time, but he was a few bends for the ultimate in seized by Aerts.

What followed was a sprint to the power on a light ascending arrival. Aerts went first, the intrinsically faster Meeusen tried the wheel, but was back in the saddle flops and with place two are satisfied. In the sprint for the third spot on the podium knocked Of of Her a bright dispirited Vanthourenhout. Aernouts was fifth.
