The state creates, it is still rare, the paid advance payment of maintenance for children of lone of the defaulting parents on a pull back. As the family Ministry confirmed on Monday that dropped the return rate in the past year, from 19 to only 13 percent. Therefore, approximately 2.1 billion euros were paid out in the year 2018 to advance, but only about 270 million collected. First, the “Süddeutsche Zeitung had reported” about it. Minister for the family, Franziska Giffey (SPD) said that the countries must be respected again this year, “a lot stronger”.
Single mothers and fathers in the state do not receive help, if the other parent fails to meet his maintenance obligations. The money is to be brought to but of the defaulting payers – in practice, mostly the fathers – and back again.
As a reason for the lower return rate, the Ministry refers to a change in the law of 2017: A claim to advance, it was previously only for children up to 12 years of age and only a maximum of 72 months.
