It is as there are two Van Morrison. Partly tvärviggsgubben in the hat who loves pensionärsmässig trivseljazz and happy yelling a little too loud when he should sing. On one hand, a musical mystic who has created a own form of spiritual pop music, with a handful of ackordgångar he would be happy to recycle and, ideally, lose themselves in the winding meditations. In recent years, it is the former figure that has taken over, but sometimes looking the other up.
the album title ”The prophet speaks” sets the expectations a little enticing high so is the ending song with the same name just one of such a favoured little gem. Warm and tranquil, in a simple rhyme about how most lost the ability to listen. The more than an hour before, however, is a long, jogging trial, with subtly mollbluesiga ”Ain’t gonna moan no more” as the sole exception.
