A majority in Parliament with the government and the Danish people’s Party has adopted a bill that makes it legal for persons over 18 years of age to have pepper spray in their own homes.

the Proposal was adopted Tuesday afternoon.

From next year it will be therefore possible for ordinary citizens over the age of 18 years to store pepper spray in their own home. And, if necessary, apply it for self-defense, for example, by robbery.

Many organizations as Politiforbundet, The Crime prevention Council and the Danish business in consultation responses otherwise expressed concern for how the use of pepper spray will get to work in practice.

The Crime prevention Council has announced that ’there are good reasons to believe that the bill will escalate the violence’.
