the U.S. imports of Spanish olives amounted to 67.6 million u.s. dollars in 2017, which corresponds to more than sek 600 million. The U.S. department of commerce has ruled that Spanish olives are sold for cheap, and have coated them with punitive tariffs on 16,88 – 25,50 per cent.

According to the WTO rules, the parties have 60 days to resolve the conflict. The olives are now at risk to end up in legal limbo because the united states prevents judges from resolving trade disputes.
