As a spin-off to Sweden in the last years the most interesting pop band, Simian Ghost, releases Light Vibes now its fullängdsdebut. The duo consists of two members of the group, Erik Klinga and Mathias Zachrisson, and the expression is familiar from the ursprungsprojektet, with certain modifications.
this is Where Simian Ghost, with time, moved away from the atmospheric to something which now almost sounds like pop for the masses has Light Vibes one more option starting point. Zachrisson singing melodies in the androgynous falsetto, the production is graceful and gentle, the bass is almost non-existent.
for a long time, which possibly was to its disadvantage. Part of the grips feels well intimately associated with the trends that were at their height in the beginning of the decade. But in their best moments have ”Past/Present” a dreamy quality that is both evocative and charming.
