Aalst, Bart De Meyst is prince carnival 2019 of Aalst. He earned 897 points, 256 more than the incumbent party’s candidate Maasiai. The Meyst had more points on the kennisproef and scored better with the judges and audience.
Maasiai had a total of 641 points. On the kennisproef he got 25 to 50, good for 125 points. The jury gave him 194, good for 388 points. Maasiai also got 513 texting behind his name, good for 128 points.
Bart De Meyst earned 897 points in total. On the kennisproef he took 41 to 50, good for 205 points. The jury gave him a 231, good for 442 points. More than 1,000 fans sent a text message for The Meyst and which earned him 250 points.
“I realise it is not so good,” said Bart De Meyst afterwards. “If you ask me, what a prince I would want to be in the coming year, the answer is: prince of the people. In my campagnejaar I was present everywhere and that I will if the prince will also try to. This is so beautiful, it is something where, as a child you dream of,” says Bart De Meyst.
