Time-out 27 January 1973. 46 years ago. In the National Stadium of Wales, the New Zealand rugby people a ridiculous haka. Great images.

The haka is a ceremonial dance of the Maori. You get the idea that it is a pure tribal, but it’s not that bad. For example, there are also haka’s for funerals. The most well-known, however, that a war haka. The New Zealand rugby team perform the ‘m before the start of each contest, as well as the national teams from nearby islands like Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. The dance is also a different name, but the idea is the same.

The haka of the New Zealand rugbyploeg has in recent years become world famous. There are a few Dutch enthusiasts that also but two players from the All Blacks to name call, but everyone knows how their haka looks like. Every movement, every look and every cry bursts from each other of aggression. It’s a pretty impressive sight, especially when you as an opponent on the other side of the field quietly is to stretch and stretch.

That fierce look had the haka of the New Zealand rugbyploeg not always. In the course of the years the aggressive edge which is sharpened. That was also necessary. Just look at the haka that the All Blacks have carried out on 27 January 1973. It looks like a sketch from Monty Python.
