Australian Open Rolstoeltennisser Joachim Gérard has for the second time in his career, the doubles win at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

On the side of the Swede Stefan Olsson he took in the semi-final on Court 3 in two sets, the Frenchman Stéphane Houdet and the Australian Ben Weekes: 6-3 and 6-2 after 59 minutes. Our compatriot and Olsson were the second reekshoofden in Melbourne.

In the enkeltoernooi was Gérard (ITF 5) in the first round (quarterfinals) 6-4 and 6-3 turned off by his doubles partner Olsson (ITF 6).

The thirty years Gérard has now three grand slam titles in doubles to his name. In addition to two victories (2017 and 2019) at the Australian Open, he won at the 2014 Roland Garros. In singles still, he had no grand slam tournament win, a lost final in Melbourne in 2016 is his best result. At the end of last year, he won for the third time in the Masters.
