He is a real warrior, and now he is also AGF is in two seasons further.

the Club from Aarhus has just announced that the Swedish Niklas Backman has extended his contract with the club, so it now runs until the summer of 2021.

The 30-year-old defender has, consequently, the future of space.

– It is great to get it in place and I am very glad, that my future still lies in the AGF and Aarhus. I thrive really well in the club and do the same for my family in the city, so it was with great pleasure that I was able to sign an extension. The dialogue with the PC has been fine all the way through and AGF have all the time been my first choice – so it ‘jättebra’, says Niklas Backman to the club’s website.

Backman sat out in large parts of the autumn, where he had viral meningitis. A disease of the brain, however, is just as bad as if it had been bakterielmeningitis. Backman should therefore use the time to recover, but when he first was also fresh, he came slowly back into the starting line-up.

It was especially in the period in which Backman was out, that the AGF had problems defensively and closed a part goals. Sportschefen are pleased to have closed the agreement with the swede, who came to the AGF in 2016.

– We are happy to get in the goals with an extension with Niklas. He is a player who always plays with an unparalleled winning mentality, and which with pride carries the AGF-l in the best way. He has now been here for some years, and in spite of some periods of time with injuries, so he provides always its best – on and off the field. He is also an adult and mature player, like many of our other players – not least the young up-and-coming – can look at and mirrors when it comes to representing the AGF and our values, says the team he will play Peter Christiansen.

Niklas Backman has played 78 matches and scored four goals. The swede is such a type that goes hard in all the duels, and several times he has left with bandages on his head to stop the bleeding.
