Sint-Truiden The five-year-old Kenric Enckels from Sint-Truiden to fight for three years against rhabdomyosarcoom, a rare cancer that muscle tissue are affected. After a courageous battle, Kenric and his parents for their last fight. Monday, they were given the bad news to hear.

“After exactly three years of fighting, we are worse than ever before. Not only is the cancer back, but for the first time, there are also multiple metastases found in the lungs. The aggressiveness of the tumor is enormous… is there another options are is not sure. First, a bone scan to see if there metastases, and today we consult in Paris. Other approaches are viewed, we are not yet ready to give up, but we are violently forced to face reality. The dirty sample is cheating and seems to win. The unreality of this is not to describe. We go every prayer and candle very hard, need to our dear treasure here, someone above can’t digest that we have this wonder with us,” says mama Livia Raskin.

Today shrinks unfortunately the opportunities, though nobody wants to say exactly how long Kenric. “For three years we have ahead of looked, never look back. And then suddenly there is before us nothing more… Our little lady superhero will not be long with us, an unbearable thought. How much time we have left is a question mark, but given the high aggressiveness of the tumor and metastases is every day that we have a gift. We have to pull us back to the intimate circle around the impossible to endure, we count on everyone’s understanding in this,” says mama Livia Raskin.

The fight began exactly 3 years ago. “On January 25, 2016, and changed our lives forever. It was the day the diagnosis came. Kenric was only two and he breathed heavily in his sleep. A heavy cold, we thought together with the doctor. But it’s getting worse,” says papa Serge Enckels . “So we went to the nose-, throat – and oorarts, who immediately noticed that something was wrong. A scan of the university hospital of Leuven was grim: Kenric suffered rhabdomyosarcoom. At that time got we in one hell of a rollercoaster where we are today not uitgeraken”.
