“Teachers have to be trained to manage skolattacker”

“No one is safe against a skolattentat. This is the view of the municipality of Laholm, which has trained school staff in dealing with the ongoing deadly violence (PDV).”

“Laholm is the first in hawaii with the PDV-training, which P4 Halland has reported. During the autumn school on the Campus of Laholm received training in what to do in real situation. Also other staff in the municipality to undergo the training in the future.”

“It’s about situations where the school is attacked by one or more perpetrators with the intent to kill.”

“– We have gone around the classrooms and corridors. Where would you be able to escape? Where can you hide? It is to prepare themselves mentally, ” says Thomas Nederhed Högardh, security coordinator in the municipality.”

“the Initiative came from the school staff. Not that it is a threat, declares Ulf Bergström, who is the principal of the Campus’s Collections. But there is an increasing concern.”

“the Headmaster is taking up skolattacker in Finland and in the Swedish Trollhättan as an example of their geographic unpredictability.”

“– Looking at the known cases, it can occur anywhere. The pattern is not restricted to the big city or small town. The risk is incredibly small, but it is clear that it can happen here, ” says Ulf Bergström.”

“the Police want to see the prevention work.”

“To be educated is also about to learn the prevention of skolattacker and to identify warning signs. It explains Kristian Nilsson, kommunpolis in Laholm, which has been designed PDV-education.”

“Staff must be proficient in to see aberrant behavior,” he says and continues:”

“– Many ask during the training what to do in case of an attack. There are no given answers. Often can you barely do anything before it is over, but you can know if something is going on.”

“the council for Crime prevention (Brå) compiled a report in 2009 about the ongoing deadly violence, where, among other things gärningsmannaprofiler and the typical sequence of events in the PDV will be taken up.”

“It is also clear how the rule should consider if you are facing such a situation. According to the report, should the priority be to:”

“1. Escape. Don’t wait on others who do not want to escape – and leave personal belongings.”

“2. Hide. Lock and barricade the door. Insert the mobile phone on silent mode.”

“3. Fight. Prepare to attack the offender. Act aggressively.”

“the Hallmark of a PDV-situation is that it occurs without warning, with a short period of time, is extremely violent and that someone skadasu002Fdödas on average every 15 seconds.”
