The pupils of the French community education choose less and less for the lessons English them at school to be offered. The percentage of students that for the Dutch chose decreased over the past five years from 44 to 41 percent. Especially English the benefits of those lessons lure already 37,6 percent of the students.
According to Schyns can the declining popularity of English can be explained by the relatively big linguistic differences between the French and the Dutch. “Half of the English vocabulary, by contrast, is indebted to the language of Molière,” she stated in the competent commission of the French gemeenschapsparlement.
