the Unknown hackers made namely access to the personal information of several German parliamentarians, journalists and celebrities.
this information was released daily in december as a kind of advent calendar. It writes several German media on Friday, including Der Spiegel.
Politicians from virtually all German parties are affected by the hacker attack. Only the right wing party Alternative für Deutschland has gone free.
It is not yet known whether there is a single perpetrator, or whether there are several persons involved, but the publication of the data was very organized.
Daily sent to the Twitter account in december of the new information out, and they continued, in fact longer than a traditional advent calendar. The last postings were in fact made 28. december, and the first 4. January the account was closed.
It is not yet known what the motive of the publication was, but it is likely to have political implications.
– the Authors would damage confidence in our democracy and their institutions, said the German minister of justice Katarina Barley after the attack.
Among the data, which has been leaked on the Twitter account, it is very personal information like mobile numbers, credit card information, home addresses, and private messages.
the Data is supposed to be accumulated over a longer period of time and through multiple attacks, with different approaches.
German chancellor Angela Merkel has, according to several German media, not even got shared personal information, but several letters from and to the chancellor have been shared, like a fax number and an email address has been published.
The German cyber security unit called a crisis meeting Friday morning, where several German authorities took part. There should now be an effort to stop the spread of the data.
Some of the data is according to the Welt either outdated or illegitimate, while large parts of it, however, has proved to be real enough.
