– Because we have not really had any really such where the big movie this year that drew a lot of it is well possible that there will be slightly fewer this year. It is very possible that we have lost some visitors at the end of the year, ” says Thomas Runfors, head of corporate communications at Filmstaden.
Even the increase of the biografmomsen from six to 25 per cent two years ago has led to consequences, and a dozen or so cinemas in Sweden have closed, which can be seen as a part in the decline then individual cities have been affected.
But Biografägareförbundet still think that films from the other side of the Atlantic can reverse the trend and that the blockbusters from the united states, which will premiere in 2019 will draw more visitors to the cinemas.
