The share of renewable energies in the electricity mix in Germany rose last year for the first time, more than 40 percent. Especially thanks to the many hours of sunshine in the summer, the produced in Germany green electricity in 2018 rose by 4.3 percent to 219 terawatt-hours, as scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar energy systems is calculated.

The share of electricity from solar, Wind and hydro power, and biomass rose to 40.4 percent. In the year 2017, the share was 38.2 per cent, ten years ago, at 16.2 percent.
