Bundesligaklubben Bayer Leverkusen have on Sunday fired head coach Heiko Herrlich.

Although the team Saturday went on winter break with the second ligasejr in a row, as Hertha Berlin were beaten 3-1, so goes the development the wrong way, believe the helm.

Three wins in the last four rounds in the fall have otherwise brought Leverkusen up in ninth place in Germany’s top row.

– Unfortunately, stagnate the team’s development, and we can’t get around it, says sports director Rudi Völler to the club’s website.

– Although we are towards the end of the year once again has got the contact details for the european places, so we are in a situation where it is necessary to change the coach, when we look back on an overall unsatisfactory halvsæson, he says.

the 47-year-old Herrlich, who was to be the coach of Bayer Leverkusen in a year and a half, is replaced by the dutchman Peter Bosz.

The eight-year-older Bosz has had great success with danskerklubben Ajax Amsterdam, which he two years ago brought forward to the final of the Europa League.

Subsequently changed Peter Bosz from Ajax to Borussia Dortmund, however, fired him after just one and a half years in december 2017.
